Was out there today. 4 people dragged kayaks in and were fishing. Sounds like a few bows to the net! Lake is ice free, still snow on the road but that should go quickly. The boat ramp is messed up so hand launch boats will be the key for the next few weeks. Remember to comply with sierra county's AIS inspection program please. We will be doing a fair bit of construction and demolition in the old campgrounds over the next few weeks so expect noise and bear with us please!
    Thanks

Any more recent reports? I'm thinking about heading up on Saturday.

John, great to hear. Are these catchable size Pilot Peak or sub? Sounds like there is an effort to populate a lot of the sierra lakes with these. I'm going to try and make it up in the next few weeks to try some Stillwater stuff.

Jim Christensen, at the shop on most Mondays, really knows how to fish Webber Lake if you need any advice or flies.

I think they are sub catchable but a few of those look a little bigger. People are catching rainbows as well in larger sizes.
With this heat the Lake went upside down and is currently recalibrating. Worth a shot though if you are nearby. I have not seen any risers though, FWIW

Hit Webber on Friday morning. Hot as hell...more like dog days of August. Surface temp of water was 60 degrees. About 6-8 people out in boats or pontoons.

Caught two nice rainbows, 15" and 17". A few sporadic fish rising, but couldn't get any surface action. Others I talked to had similar success rate.

If managed well this will be a great fishery as some of the wild(er) fish grow up. Lots of work going on to get the place in shape as well. So good to have this in public hands.

Take mosquito repellent if you go!

This is solid advice. Mosquitos will be rough for the next 3 weeks.

    Good Morning
The Webber Campground will open to the public August 1st.
We are still working with the State on certifying the water supply as potable so bring your own water please!
    Thanks
