    Default Colorado in April

Here for two weeks so why not bring the gear right?

Got to a local water yesterday. Had about two hours and made it pay with four fish.

    Much fun for sure.

Back at it later once the snow stops.

I will be out on the Poudre later this afternoon. The huge snowflakes are beautiful right now, yet the sky is brightening a touch. If we can hold onto the clouds, we should have some BWOs emerging.

    Best Regards, Bob

Snow never let up but I went-'glad i did.

Went further up the hiway 3-4 miles, saw some good spots that had no signs of cars or people.

Rigged up w a twenty incher and a worm deep rig- water is off color and moving pretty fast, figured to fish close to shore in the soft slow water.

Well, that was the plan at least. Hit some really good looking water for nothing, lost a couple rigs, pulled the worm and swapped to a caddis pupa, for still nothing.
Took a break and decided to fish the deeper slots even though they're ripping.
Swapped over to a sculpin pattern, added a couple bb shot about 3 inches up from that. Started dredging the heck out of it, firing an upstream cast, stack mends on the leader 3,4,5 times till that fly is dribbling right over those rocks.
Zone in on the line, this is perfect, no one around, perfect water, drift is just so, so right... Lather rinse, repeat, Focus on that line, nothing else matters- and bbrrrp bbrp- set- head shake!

I see a deep flash right as I feel the fish- golden butter down there rolling rolling and dink- throws the hook. Whoa- get back out there- cast, mend mend mend mend,
No way- fish on. Landed a 13 inch rainbow.
Cast again brrrp brrp- fish on
    Again fish on

Kid you not. 4 casts 4 fish. I know, no pics never happened- that's fine w me, I was there and you weren't.

For about 30 minutes I was jimmy Houston with a sissy stick. I vacuumed that spot bare.
It was one of those times where you just knew if you got your cast right and got it down deep it was gonna get whacked. These fish were on the chew-

And then it was over. Count? I dunno 10-12 browns and rainbows in the 10-13 range. No toads but all hot and fun to hook. Only landed about half of em, barbless hook with those split shot so close made it way too easy to toss the hook.

Cold, hungry, I kept fishing, but I knew it was over, even as I fished the best run of the day for not a bump.

    Today was a good day.
