    Default Salmon Season meeting 4-13-2017

I just finished listening to and watching the Salmon Season discussions for the CA F&G today.

According to what I read and listened to:

    http://www.cal-span.org/player/jwpla...on=0&captions=

    Ocean Salmon in:
Klamath region will be closed this year.
Fort Bragg area - Shelter Cove to Pt Arena Open May 1st thru May 30th and August 15th thru Nov 12th.
San Francisco - Pt Arena to Pigeon Point Open May 16th thru October 31st.
Monterey North - Pigeon Point to Point Sur Open May 1st thru July 15th.
Monterey South - May 1st thru May 31st only.

    Inland Fishery:
Klamath River - spring Chinook continues to August 14th
Trinity River - spring Chinook continues to August 31st.
No Fall run Chinook fishery on either river.
    Steelhead season has no changes.
Smith River remains at normal season for Fall run as will most other northern rivers.
Central Valley rivers have not been decided on yet.

I am sure they will post the final dates and numbers soon but just a heads up if anyone is interested.

Note that estimates on the number of fall run fish were so low for the Klamath River that they felt they could have only justified a take of 129 Adult fish for a recreational fishery and 814 fish for the Klamath tribal allocation.

    Regards,

    Tim C.
