Might be wise to wear a PDF if you do.
    A Per-sonal Devo-tion Flow-vice ?
OHHHHH You mean a PFD, Personal Flotation Device...
Heard of a dead shad floating down the river 2 days ago near Gristmill.
The only reason I get excited about those slimy, smelly things is I know, in the same vicinity, there are monsters... stalking, terrifying, pulverizing and eating them

That's great news Mark. I'm sure more will be showing up soon. They will have to run the gauntlet of sea lions hanging around the middle river.

Fished the middle river mid-day. Obviously no shad but I ran into the UPS man who fished the loop in a canoe. I was intrigued to see him standing up and casting for stripers. Who needs a drift boat when you can do it from a canoe!

Jeff sounds like the canoe was a wide version. Either way interesting.

What I would like to know from anyone that has been out in boats as of late. What launches are open. Anything on the Sac. Or if any AR launches are open which ones. Thanks for any info.

Also cant wait to get a shad!!

Not many boats on the American. Mike Koe is the only guy I see out on a regular basis but he can go anywhere with his jet power drifter. Sailor Bar, Sunrise and Gristmill are the only launches open. You will have to look for new spots to fish for shad at the current flows (and I expect it to increase once the snow really starts to melt).

Boy, I hope you're wrong about 20K, Jeff, but I'm afraid you may be right. Been walking the river around Sunrise and Sailor Bar a bit, and there isn't much good holding water if you're fishing from shore. May have to pull my canoe out of mothballs, and figure out a way to anchor it in heavy flow.

Wayne, heavy flows and an anchored canoe doesn't sound like a a good idea.

Speaking from experience, it's a recipe for disaster.

Yeah, I'd rather not read about you in the papers.....no shad is worth that.

Thinking he had to be joking. No one should ever anchor a canoe even in slow moving water...let alone heavy flow.
