Default Some Crazy wood fly boxes and cigar boxes!

I made several more boxes some time ago and havent had time to post them until now.

Im numbering each item so please inquire by number and use my PM function for purchase and questions.

PayPal is my prefered payment method but ask me about other options

Standard shipping and handling is $7 in the continental US

Please understand that these beauties are 100% wood (With some epoxy) So there may be some minor inclusions that are natural in the wood. I inspect them all for strength and integrity. If I dont think it will last a lifetime with the right care, it doesnt leave my shop.

Each box is lined with a custom rippled cork insert that I also make by hand. With the right care and the use of barbless hooks, these self healing cork inserts will last forever.

As always, my prices reflect the natural beauty and rarity of the wood

This first series of boxes are 3x5" Highly figured Walnut. For dark wood lovers, these are for you!

This is KILLER spalted maple! As good as it gets! There's even a bit of a ghost hint of curl in the grain. This is one of a kind in design as I did a "raised panel" detail on it. Wait til you hear the sound this one makes when the magnets meet. Something about this piece that is different from the rest

    4x6" fly box #80.00 SOLD

Spalted maple lid cigar box with top grade maple burl box. This lid pivots on a brass post screw and aligns with a positive closure with magnets. It's sized for two robustos.
    $40.00

    Alright.... Heres the *GOLD*
I would just as soon keep these so I am pricing them in hopes I can LOL But... The thought of sharing this with a fellow fly fisherman and knowing its on a journey in someone elses life makes me happy.

A brief story about what youre looking at...

Ive had a piece of maple burl for several years. It was pretty unusable do to massive voids throughout the grain structure. A few months ago I started playing with epoxy. I learned that adding a few drops of colored dye to epoxy can make for a neat effect. I decided to flood this piece of burl with dyed blue epoxy. I set it aside and forgot about it for months. recently I decided to start filleting it with my bandsaw. I was like an archaeologist unearthing the treasure of a lifetime! What's more, due to the fact that I used very high quality epoxy that is highly viscus, it penetrated every nook and cranny and stabilized the wood. It is impressively strong and infused! The epoxy is transparent and glows with a stunning aqua blue when light comes thru it. The burl had rotted and formed strange and beautiful colors around the voids. It was like cutting open an agate!

This first one is a small, 3x5" riffle, flybox. Its lid pivots on a brass post screw and closes with magnets. The body of the box is top grade, beautiful maple burl. This is the crown jewel of this collection...

    #7 $80.00 SOLD

Next is the cigar boxes made from the same piece. Sized for a pair of robustos **This is not photoshopped!**

    #8 $75.00 SOLD

    #9 $50.00 SOLD

This is the same piece where the blue doesnt show up. But still really crazy patterns in the wood. I filled a small void in this box with turquoise sand

Thats it for now.. Thanks friends!

I bought one of these from jbird a few years ago, and i love it. It sits on my mantle above the fireplace stocked with beautiful steelhead flies. It's a wonderful piece of art and a great conversation piece.
