    Default Spent Some Time at The Cabin;

    I was out to the cabin for 4 weeks, I put a huge Cabin post on my blog that won't fit here but Bill said it's OK to tell people where it is so....... http://akflyfishingguide.com/blog/ it's there.

    Here are a few primers;

    First trip out (75 miles) I brought back my log splitter for use at home.

    Then Boss and I went to stay for a month.

    We got about 2 foot of snow while there.

    Had some pretty days

    And a lot of cloudy ones, one week the sun didn't shine at all.

    No one showed up out there for 3 weeks, those are my tracks out there.

    The entry I made on my own page covers work from winters past and last summer building new stuff.

    This should give you an idea of how much snow we have, it isn't a whole lot.

    We (Boss & I) took walks once I got some trails in, the snowmachine tracks set up like sidewalks after a couple -20 nights. Then you can walk without snowshoes.

    Hi Guys, Thanks........

    I have to go out either Monday or Wednesday to haul in some fuel. I take out 300 gallons every winter for the boat and next years snowmachine use. I had almost 45 gallons left this winter because of bad water conditions last summer that cut the number of trips out there. The 2016 season started with low water but by mid August we were flooded. The high water remained until October.

    It is wild Bill but has changed a lot in just the past decade. there are about 8 more cabins there than there were in 2004. Still there are a few wolves that somehow avoid traps and bullets, I saw 2 last winter. There are Lynx and if you're in the right place at the right time Wolverine. Of course many things go by unseen because most have become nocturnal which helps with the whole mortality thing.

    The best part about being there is that unless a Bush plane comes or goes, there are no sounds other than the sounds of birds. It is the quietest place I know of where I have my own chair.

    Ard,
    Just now found your post. Great shots. Love those with the Inspector Boss.
    Friends used to cache gas cans in the Ketchikan area for summer fishing.
    Spent lots of time there in the 1980's. How's the book coming?
    Sent you a PM.
    Best to all,

    I missed a couple of these replies, sorry bout that guys. I spent a good portion of August and most of September out there and rebuilt my foundation corners. Next summer I'll do a final grade around the place which was never done. Once I have adequate drainage I'm going to enclose the bottom all except some small passages for the Spruce Grouse who get their dust baths under the building

    It was a busy season all around, a new storage shed and I now have a DIY saw mill so things will get serious now. I do wish I were ten years younger so this wasn't all so difficult. I'm planning a Sauna and Gazebo once I have the dirt work finished. I hauled out one of the DR Field & Brush Mowers this year. All I can say about those machines is that they are incredible! I cleared more land this year in 2 weeks than I have in the past 11 years.

    I will be there for most of the winter this year and have a full solar array to haul out via freight sled this winter. Next year will be a busy one.
