WOW!!! That must be very interesting to see. I've heard about the red crab migration on other pacific islands but never at Christmas Isl. I didn't notice any walls or underpasses either. Maybe they're in another part of the island.

Good to hear from you. Here in Sun Diego, we periodically see current driven red tuna crabs and the vela vela jellyfish(about
the diameter of a hockey puck) covering our beaches. Curiously, it's been a decade or so since we've experienced a red tide.
We've lost our beaches again this winter. Even a 5-ft high is pushing against the cliffs. We looked at South Carlsbad last
Thursday and found a 5-6 foot cobble barrier where that should have been sand. Lots of big surf! We are close to 9"
of rain since Oct 1 and more coming next weekend. Good news for our lakes.

The world climate is in turmoil alright..we've just been through a late season Cyclone here that deluged the east coast of Australia for a couple of thousand miles,then crossed the ocean to dump on NZ...one place within a half hour drive of where I live received an incredible 800ml.of rain overnight..that's 32" of water (25ml.=1 inch) Incidentally,the Red Crab migration on (the other) Christmas Island off the northwest coast of Australia is world famous and featured in one of Sir David Attenborough's "Life on Earth" series.
