    Default Ermine In Elk Carcass

Since there is not much hope of some fresh fish pictures getting posted right now I decided to put up an ermine photo I took last year. We went to Sourdough Canyon for some snow hiking and saw this next to the road. This guy was right in the middle of the carnage and loving it. Pretty good supply of elk hair there also. I went by the next day and the carcass was about picked clean.

What a cool picture! Cute lil' guy, I'll bet he was belly full. Amazing he stayed so white for being inside chowin down. Thanks for sharing that and what a rare photo op to come across! It's like he was posing for the picture .

I got within a couple of feet of an ermine in the wind river mountains once. They seem to be good posers. I got pretty close to this one. Maybe 10 feet. Only a 70 mm lens so I needed to get close. I like the elk hair and all the meat fibers hanging off the bones.

    Very special shot...

I have seen them in the summer when they are dark along streams.
