    Cool Trinity 12/13/16

Clearly the word is out that 2016 is not a banner year for Steelhead returns on the Trinity River.
I floated it with a guide Tuesday December 13, 2016 and worked hard for 4 grabs. (+ a couple halfpounders)
We landed 2 of the 4 adults hooked, best one was 30" but on the slim side so just about 8+ pounds.
It was cold and rained some of the day but I was real happy to be there and be able to touch a couple nice fish.
It's not an "easy year" but there is hope if you can get out there.

    Yes indicator
2 fly rig: Golden stone/Egg pattern (bead)
I think both landed adults took the stone. One of the half pounders ate the egg
I'll never know what the 2 I lost ate. arrrgghh!

Hell, a couple of nice fish and a great day on the river. We are up next Weds. and Thursday. I just saw that the Trinity has hit 6000 cfs at Junction City . . . whoa Nellie as Keith Jackson would say! I hope it fishable by then. Those are 2 nice fish.

    Thanks Yubaman,
I'm feeling real lucky i hit that day after these days of non-stop rain in here Grass Valley.
Good luck next week if you get fishable water.
I wish more of this rain was getting stored as snow but I guess we need to take what we can get after these years of drought.
