Big Scotts hold rainbows, browns, and smallmouth predominately; the browns are difficult to get but can be had around the dam. Smallies, I seem to do best fishing the ledges and drop offs and deep with jig flies or heavily weighted baitfish imitations. They tend to be pretty deep all year. Trout are clustered, and when you find them, in the more skinny water you'll get a lot of them. They are usually snakes, long and skinny. There's not a lot of feed for trout at Scott's so your chances of getting a big rainbow are far less than a brown or smallie.
Lower is perfect for float tubes/pontoons/kayaks. Big Scott's, a boat is really helpful but you can fish off the shore to the left of the marina (facing the water), as far as you can walk.
