Default Help me select a reel!

Just picked up a sage one 696-1 that I plan to use primarily for throwing streamers and big indo rigs. I've been looking at the Lamson Litespeed to pair up with it but I'm not sure if I should go with the 2 or the 3. Looking at the specifications from Lamson the 2 is for 4,5,6 Wt rods and the 3 is designed for 6,7,&8s My brother has the 2 on his 5 weight rod and it balances out quite nicely. My concern is that the 2 might be a bit on the light side for a longer 6 wt? Anybody have experience with the different size litespeeds on a 6 wt?

They are very light so a 3 would balance that longer rod better plus your cranking retrieve speed would be faster due to the larger diameter.

Always size up with a Lamson. I've got a couple Speedsters and although they say I should be using the 1.5 on my 4wts the 2.0 is actually the right size for a 4wt line and a moderate amount of backing. The same has held true with a couple acquaintances Lamsons of other models.

I concur. Have a couple and if I knew then I would have gone the size up. Only had a problem once with my Guru but the fixed it fast . Great reels!
