    Default Dr Spey

Yesterday Dr Don Powell passed away.
About this time everyday Dr Don Powell would start making his web site rounds of checking on the activity
Of steelhead in western North America. As many of you know Don had a deep passion for steelhead. He caught over a hundred of them and he logged the time, date, place, conditions, length girth, estimated weight of each and everyone of these incredible fish. Don had a respect for the sport, it's etiquette and tradition. He was a kind gracious man who knew how to share an angling experience and river. He loved learning about spey fishing and sharing what he learned. He was grateful to have had the opportunity to spend many days swinging for steelhead. Your joyful attitude will be missed Donnie

Don was one of God's finest works.......a true gentleman and a good friend to many of us.

He had a wonderful life and would have no complaints about any of it.

We will always think of him with his wonderful smile on his face.......

    Thanks Carlo......

Wow, what a shock! Don was truly one of the best individuals that I have ever met. I'll treasure the time we spent on the river and over a good glass of scotch.

Wow, this is very sad! I met Don years ago in the shop and had a great conversation with him about steelhead. He was a true gentleman and a dedicated man when it came to our sport. I will miss his posts on the forums, he had a way with words. RIP Don!

Jason Hartwick called me the other night with the news. Absolutely devastating. Last I saw Don was a few days before I left CA, we bumped into each other at Watt Ave and he tailed a chunky half pounder for. Special moment.
