Our old baseball play friend and fly fisher Wally Westlake us to fish the Thermalito Afterbay for decades with his our poppers and rubber legged underwater bass flies. He used a small 14' aluminum boat.

Evening top water for the spots can be pretty darn good...lots of coves, weed beds, and areas to fish. Great for fly fishing cause it is like a giant pond...not a flooded canyon.
