That is a great article about salmon spawning, but I always thought the Shasta River was the main spawning grounds for
Klamath river salmon. The Scott river used to be one of my favorite rivers to fish thanksgiving week. To late for salmon,
but the steel head were terrific.

I love using advanced technology, but I am starting to wonder about its efficacy.

I am a big fan of Dr Moyle ( U.C. Davis), never having met him, but followed, loosely, his work with the California fishery .

Somehow, I missed any mention of WATER, and spawning HABITAT, in the article, maybe these topics will be brought up later.

    Best Regards,
    gene

FYI that article is from January 2016, good they are helping fish, just not new news.

Keep in mind there are wild salmon spawning in many of the Klamath tributaries, so hopefully they get some recognition as well since they are getting it done naturally!

Caltrout, TU, and UCD are doing some good things for wild fish.

Let's hope Dr Garza's research works.

    Interesting read.

Until the problem of out-migrating smolt's dying in huge numbers due to Ceratomyxa Shasta infection is fixed genetics will not increase returns.

Mother Nature didn't put the dam in that stifles the flow the river uses to clean herself, we messed up the natural system when we did that.

“We think we can do better than Mother Nature,” Dr. Moyle said. “You wind up getting hooked on that system.”

    Undamn the Klamath!
