Jenkins Lake 5-14-16
After looking at a earlier post on Jenkins i decided to give it a try yesterday, water temp 66 degrees, and it was nice to see the lake brim full again. I fished 3 different places, main body, middle section, and chimney area. With the warm water conditions i knew that the catch was going to be difficult, after fishing all my favorite places i found this one area that i caught 90% of all my fish from (over 15), which was a mix bag of spotted, large mouth, small mouth, all were caught on a intermediate line with a 6 color UV marabou streamer tied to a 15 ft. leader.
Also there was giant black ant hatch going on that the trout were feeding on the surface.

I just missed the ants I guess because I only saw one carpenter ant in 3 days. There were tons of tiny ants on our tent though but no insect activity down by the lake.. I'm surprised they even took the beetles and hopper patterns and I only had a 7 foot leader but then again I wasn't casting more than 15 feet.
