Will try tfo bvk too, heard they are good bet.

    Thanks
Food for thought..... check out some glass rods. Glass will deliver a sweet presentation for dries on spring creeks and will protect light tippets. If graphite is your deal any of the aforementioned rods will work fine. If you can find an older Winston IM6 in a 4wt buy it.

I agree with the vote for a 4 wt. Winston IM6. A 4 wt. 8 1/2' Sage LL would be another one to consider. They will both hold their value and one would probably stay your rod lineup for many years.

Good luck on your rod search,

Or a Scott G, 844, or 884. The sought after older rods mentioned are probably needing more than 3 hundred these days. One in your range I'm thinking of getting is the Douglas, it's 8'8" has one piece cork grip/seat with sliding rings. Haven't cast one yet but it looks like it's intended for what you have in mind.

    Good luck

yea, the Douglas Upstream, 8'8" 4wt for 350$ is a really sweet stick for a spring creek/light trout rod. It's a four weight designed for fishing, not distance casting.

What ever you get be sure it has a flexible tip section for lighter tippets like 6x with small flies and big trout.

Go test cast a pulse, I think you'd be surprised

I had a 9 foot 3 weight Cabelas LSI rod delivered yesterday and was very impressed. They have multiple sizes on sale right now for $113. Can't wait to try it our on a small stream.
