Default 4 weight rod recommendations ?

Looking for 4 weight 9 or 8.6 length rod for smaller stuff - spring creeks etc.

I typically fish fast action rods, sage xp and one.

Was hoping to go mid price as I won't use this rod a lot.

Read that the new loomis NRX lite line ($390) is good, plus also reddington hydrogen ($300).

Anyone thrown those, any other recommendations?

    Thanks
    Steve

The Winston BIIX 9' 4 weight is absolutely one of the best 4's ever...a medium action that does everything! I would attempt to find this rod used because Winston no longer offers this model. This rod in "very good condition" could be found in your price range.

Good luck and enjoy whatever selection you make!

For a rod that won't get a lot of use, can't go wrong with TFO. Check out the BVK.

If you're not brand conscious Cabela's makes an 11' 4wt called a CZN. It's not anything fancy but the regular price is $199 and i've seen them on sale for half that. I tried one last year on Bitch Creek (Idaho), in the canyon, and it was great for reaching over boulders and such. Lots of fun on small fish. Maybe worth a look.

The Pulse series from SAGE is great stuff. Check them out - $425 or so. Great rods.

Thanks Lance. Little worried it might be too stiff for what I want to use it for, small flies at shorter distance. Big sage rod fan but looks like swing weight bit too heavy for my planned use.

That said have to test a few myself.
