Sometimes it is the exact spot you are standing that makes the difference.I have seen a dozen people lines up and only one or two caching anything. Those anglers were standing right where their fly swung through the top of a school.

AM and PM is always better. I like to fish the last 2 hours of light during the week.

A few of us floated from sunrise to grismall yesterday.
Only our second time out hunting shad...I say hunt because we couldnt find a single one.
Saw a few really nice bright steelhead tho.
Warm weather...hot compared to Tahoe now in a major way, and a great day bs'n with good buddies.
Awesome quiet day on the water.

Gangster, It's a little early for the upper river. Try it again in 2-3 weeks. It should be better if the shad can make it pass the gauntlet of sea lions down in the lower river.

Skunked again last night. It's been very slow for most the last couple of days. There's are a lot more anglers (mostly gear guys) and only a few shad are being caught. More shad should be coming into the AR.

I was at Harrington for awhile yesterday and a sea lion was there as well, munching fish. That obviously doesn't help the bite at all.

Thanks to the state of CA sea lions now come up rivers -_-
I guess with high water comes bigger problems in the central CA water shed. Haven't heard of a SL that high up the river in a while.

I still can't believe there's sea lions that high up in the system... Gonna make for a tough season if they don't head back to the sac.

Here's a post that I made Sunday evening on the wrong thread: Fished for 5 hours at 5 different spots down in the lower river with only a sucker caught. Saw one of the sea lions at Howe. I figure that the sea lions followed the initial wave of shad from the Sac. The first wave are probably mid-river right now. I hope the pennipeds stay down low and don't move up.
