Better day than yesterday. Got over 30 to the boat on a float with Earle Sloane today. All on the Too Sexy except for one.
Jeff, what would it take to get out with you for a little bit of instruction?
Went out again last night and found some fish in almost every run we fished. When it's good I don't count numbers. It was one of those nights. Some drag screamers and all. Great time!
Thanks for all the tips Jeff C!
And a huge thanks to the two gentlemen that invited us to slide over and fish next to them. You two in the blue/white Fishcraft were very generous in letting us join in on the fun! A serious blast! Doubles, triples, quads between the two boats...you name it. We almost had a triple in our boat. Thank you!
Glad you had a blast Morgan. It should only get better. June will be epic!
Hi Jay!!!!!
Giving up on catching fish, much better at catching the trees behind me.
Yes, Jeff C could probably make a good living teaching classic fishing techniques on the Lower American River.
One evening a few years ago he worked with me till I hooked one wading with him.
That night I tripped over a big rock that was fully submerged and did a full forward face flop.
I did not try to stop it so it was not that bad.....
*Don't forget, it is good now but most, including Jeff C, think June is the big month for Shad.
.
Andy Guibord can inexpensively teach you how to Shad fish with a two handed or single handed fly rod.
He does evening 2 hour classes...for anything.

I cant wait for June!
Or better yet...the next time we go shad fishing.
Man those fish pull for their size! And the bigger ones thump!
We got into a few around 3lbs or so..maybe a little bigger and those are fun. I cant imagine 5lb plus shad
I named that rock "Bill's Rock". It's still there but the gravel restoration that they did above it changed the flow of the river through that area so it hasn't been good in years.
