With the info on the website I posted.... I can almost conclude that the salmon numbers where not doing well even before dams. Some of the hatcheries where in way before the dams. Example is the Feather River I think was one of them. Imagine the numbers of fish lets say 1750-1800 before any real tear down of the land happened!

I would assume the hydraulic gold mining didn't help the fisheries during the mid 1800's. Real interesting. Thanks.
