2016 AR Shad Reports

One of the days I spent fishing with Jeff.... I hooked one on the third week of April. Like the 19th or so if I remember correctly. Maybe Jeff remembers the days better. This was about two years ago when we got hit with low water for the first time. It was a surprise to say the least being how low the water was. With low water you really need to travel the American River being the numbers are low. All this is on the America. Not talking about the Sac which has them going up way before the American.

Aron was correct on the date 4/19/14. I went back the next day to the same spot and landed over 30. Last year that spot was not very productive. The earliest I've heard of shad being caught on the Lower American is the first week in April.

Fingers crossed mother nature keeps ol el nino around a little longer.

Looks quite warm coming mid week with sunny days on the horizon.

I could swear I saw Cottonwood flying today. We all know what that means.

Well Matt, the cotton was flying big time on the Sac river at KL today! I wasn't looking for shad, but I think they are right around the corner.
