    Default Fly for American Steelhead

    Hey Guys,

Just wondering if you had any suggestions on what patterns to use on the American when fishing for Steelhead?

    Thanks!

Go into Kienes and ask the guys to show you the patterns people are using to catch steelhead now. I cant remember the names of a lot of flys and only know them by sight

I like the blue and black squidro and chartreuse and black both I have caught fish on this year. Only thing you have to remember is that if you try the bigger flies on smaller rods it will be hard to cast.

Everyone who fishes steelhead should say what they would tie on first right now.

**Mine might be a small #6 black egg sucking leech or egg sucking bugger.

Mark knows as well as anyone.....he grew up on the river.

Egg-sucking anything works on the upper Salmon. Even Crawdad patterns.
