    Default WTB Sage 509

Looking for a Sage 509 reel made Hardy. Anyone got one collecting dust?

    Thanks,

At one time many of us had the entire Sage 500 series made by Hardy.

The 509 was the largest used for large fresh water single handed fly rods.

They were fully machined from bar stock aluminum, bronze colored anodized with nickel silver hardware.

They have a rim drag and a click-n-pawl drag system which is nice for steelhead.

The 509 was not very popular so if you see one, jump on it.

Looks like it's sold (I assume to the seeker here!). I've known that seller for 15+ years. Awesome, awesome guy.

Thanks guys, I did buy that reel posted on Spey Pages. I have a bunch of 500 Sage reels and have enjoyed using them for trout, shad, and small summer steelhead for a long time.

I've always used reels with drags on rods from 7wt up, but I have developed a lot of confidence with click and pawl reels after using the Hardy Salmon 1 and Salmon 2 reels on spey rods.

Now I need to find an extra 509 spool.

    Thanks again,

    Mark

I have a spare 509 spool that's not going to get used. What's it worth?

It's probably worth between $75 and $100. I'm sure we can work out a fair price, and I'd like to buy it.
