Steelhead Weather

Posting this here rather than the General Forum as I'm not sure (honestly) that those who fish other species watch the weather/water as close as those who chase Steelhead.

Amoeba's post got me thinking, what sources in relation to the weather/river do people use to make it a go/nogo trip. I'm sure most use the same river guidance/forecast:

In relation to weather I seem to use www.wunderground.com most and look at the ten day forecast and the scientific discussion.

Would be cool to see some offshore forecasts/maps as well as what others are using.

For flows I use Dream Flows.

I usually rely more on stream flows than the weather report. Like Josh I use Dreamflows for the river levels. I usually use NOAA weather site for the weather and more importantly, at least to me, the temperature.

I read the USGS real time stream gages that covers most of these streams/rivers here:

I rely on three sources for weather:

1. For exact precipitation amounts (and short-term hourly forecasts and radar), AccuWeather's monthly "table" view, e.g., : http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/gra...015&view=table

2. For technical discussion and extra inside scoop, NOAA's "Forecast Discussion": http://forecast.weather.gov/product....n=1&glossary=1

3. For macro-level trending, WeatherWest.com (the comments section, and Daniel's Twitter account, can be useful between posts): http://www.weatherwest.com/

Daniel at WeatherWest.com said on 12/23 that he still expects El Nino to have a major impact on California this winter, and just recently he tweeted that around 1/6 several models are in close accord for a big storm affecting the entire state. I hope he's right.

I have been using the Fishhead app for a few years and love it. It is the most accurate weather guide I have ever used.

Used to read weatherwest, forgot about it, thanks! There's always some good maps/data added in the comments by other people.

Looks like the rivers will be blown for a bit after this week. Wanted to go this weekend but my wife already had plans. At this point, the first opportunity to fish I'm suddenly not going to feel so well, may need 3-4 days to get back to good health...
