    Cool Baby Bluegill

    On our recent Striper trip, a fly tied up by Maury Hatch produced a number of good fish and the largest Striper of the day. The fly is a good simulation of a baby bluegill. Has a good profile (front/side), includes some flash and is translucent. Here's a photo:

    Looks like a relatively easy tie. I'm going to tie up some for my box.

    This blue gill pattern now incorporates some UV violet krystal flash, which really highlites the fly. But with those big Dazl Eyes added, it's pretty heavy to cast. I would wear some body armor before I'd cast it.
    I wonder if a rooster would eat this fly. The photo here shows the fly without the UV flash.
