    Default Lower Yuba report 11/15

Recent rain pushed a lot of salmon up the system, and the trout are keying in on eggs and baetis. Fished from 2pm until sunset, was an absolutely beautiful evening. Got maybe the biggest trout I've ever hooked into on the Lower Y right to the net...and the net wasn't big enough :/ Fumbling with him to angle him in and he shook free, but still managed to get a few to hand. Gotta be cautious walking around the redds, but plenty of solid fish waiting just after them to eat.

We fished the same day but earlier and got chased off the water by a big old T-storm! Small hail and some serious cloud to ground lightning.

I was watching the weather report and timed it to get there as it was clearing. Definitely saw some crazy lighting over Butte county as we came through Lincoln, but by the time we got there it was bluebird. That rain definitely shakes things up and gets fish moving. How was it that am?

The last shot in the first set of photos is great! A big upside down U in the rod! You were lucky to catch any fish in that run on Sunday about noon there were about 4 or 5 other people fishing that run. I think the sideways rain and lightning scared them off. Right after the rain the fishing picked up considerably. Remember color of the "fly" is very important during the egg bite…
