This is an annual event in April every year at the Golden Gate Angling & Casting Club in Golden Gate park in San Francisco.

I think it is a 3 day event......Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

It would be worth going once to see the event and to check out the legendary club house and ponds.

Worth noting that it was cold, overcast, and with variable winds both days, and I think this definitely affected scores to some extent. Some competitors had fortuitous tailwinds or gusts at the wall that pushed the fly over, but, a lot had to deal with crossing winds. My unscientific opinion is, on average, conditions depressed distances a little this year.

Or stop by the Golden Gate club some weekend, introduce yourself to one of the GGACC regulars who competed this year, and see if they'll teach you to swing a 15ft rod

The senior division is particularly vibrant locally. Strong history in the women's division too.
