    Default A Short Fishing Report

Since I had the week off, I decided to wet a line at one of my favorite East slope rivers, which I have neglected the past year or so, due to lack of snow, which leads to low (and warm) water levels later in the season. I did my homework and saw that the river was flowing at around 200 cfs, which is a bit high, but at least it was clear.

Here’s the river in April, but it looks like an early June flow.

The water temp was 42 when I started fishing in the late morning and rose to 46 degrees when I was finished in mid afternoon. Brrr! Still, trout have to eat and they were in the mood for something big, so streamers were the ticket.

Here’s a pic of my best fish of the day: a healthy 16 inch rainbow

I camped out that night and went to bedded down to clear skies and some gusty wind. I woke up the next day to this:

Wow! I know its still April, but I didn’t see this coming. No big deal, but I figured it would slow the fishing down a lot, so I headed home a bit early.

    Uhhh…slow…?

    Cheers,
