Have you cast the 9 wt BVK? I love the 8wt, but for me the 9wt is a club

Yes,the 9wt.BVK is a very different beast to the weights below it,with a heavier blank, bigger hardware and fighting butt.

I have cast the 8 in the past and loved it, but the guy who owned it has broken his twice fishing it- thought the 9 might be a better choice for more durability.

I stopped in around noon and test cast the 9 and bought it. it was a good deal lighter than my winston ibis 9 I've been throwing my shooting heads on, so I felt it would work

My main goal was to get a rod that throws a pole dancer, and I picked up one using that mindset. got out last night, and holy crap its like throwing a chicken. Might have been 40-50 ft at best I could manage. Switched to a crease fly and could throw the whole line. (OBS 10 w/ a twisted leader, 40# tippet).

Not sure what I need to do but I'm not sure of the next step- those suckers are hard to cast.
