My kids bought me a Sony A2000 for Christmas. Not as compact as my old Pentax pint & shoot, and not waterproof, it does have advantages. First, it takes a fantastic photo for a compact camera. It has nearly as many control options as my full size Canon. It has two interchangeable lends - it comes with a 16 - 55mm, and you can buy a 50 - 200mm (I could be off on the sizes of the lens but those dimensions are close). It is still small enough to fit in a fishing pocket. I took this panorama shot of the Three Sisters at dawn a couple weeks ago with it.
No, that Sony has a panorama function. When you initiate it, you select panning from left to right or vice versa. Then you put the camera on your chosen starting point and push the shutter. You slowly pan in the chosen direction and the camera will make this clicking noise as it records the shots. It then stitches them together to produce the panoramic shot. Pretty cool feature and easy to use.
