    Default Louisiana Redfish 2014

Been asked to post some pictures of a recent redfish trip to Louisiana.

I believe this was my seventh trip to Louisiana chasing redfish and in all those prior trips I've always used an 8wt rod. On the first morning when the guide saw me bring aboard the 8wt he asked if I had brought a 9wt which I did. He said leave the 8wt behind, boy, I'm glad I did.

We had one day in which the fishing was epic. We both approached 20 fish each and not one fish was under 20lbs. I caught a 30 pounder and Matt had a 29 pounder.
All these fish were caught in one day and we wore the guide out.

We had 6 doubles with all fish over 20lbs. The guide said we would never have another day like this in our lives.

Awesome trip. The LA marsh is a kick butt place. But to warn some of you that are not familiar with it. We DO have winter down here and this fishery, at least sight fishing, is very weather dependant. I was out Sunday and the weather was just beautiful. The 6 days prior to that sucked with clouds and wind and cold temps and no fishing, at least for me. Then this week its been the same as last week only even colder.

So when its right it is the best there is.....but.....
