    Default McCloud River Blown

I was at The Fly Shop on Friday and much of the discussion was about the McCloud River being very muddy with visibility only a few inches. It seems with so little snow pack the glacier on Mt Shasta's south side is melting and causing run off that is through the volcanic ash and down in the dirt layer, or at least that was how it was explained to me, thus the muddy conditions. Apparently this is an occurrence that only happens a few times a century. There is a photo on The Fly Shops web site under Stream Report McCloud River.

If you are planning to fish the McCloud River you might want to check with The Fly Shop for current conditions.

The McCloud is again fishable though not ideal with a foot or two of visibility. As it clears more in the next few weeks fishing should improve. Feel free to drop a line for the latest.
