    Default Capitola beaches

Gonna be in Capitola this weekend. Brought some sink tips and a floater, some clousers, shad flies, and some big nymphs. I plan on checking some of the beaches in the morning befor the family wakes up. Anybody got any advice they would like to share?

I've been out the last few mornings near Santa Cruz. Few surf perch but I hear there are some stripers around new Brighton Beach.

Good luck. Surf is down so it makes for easy fishing.

I would check out NB, Sunset and Palm Beach. Looks at the tides for an incoming or whatever is dealt to you. Early morning, look at troughs to hold fish, especially on an incoming tide. I fished a type 3 shooting head with amnesia backing in all the years i fished Palm Beach on a 7 wt rod. I used my rusty squirrel as a point fly and a red shrimp pattern as my dropper fly.
Haven't been on the Monterey Peninsula in years. Maybe one of these days I'll take a trip over to wet a line
Good luck and wade careful, even smaller waves can give you a face plant

Charlie, you might want to consider a few baitfish patterns, because I heard that white sea bass are starting to show in Monterey bay.
    Your clousers would also work.

I was out on Sunset two weeks ago, on an early morning low tide. The structure was awesome, lots of very fishy nervous waters. Threw big patterns to target big fish and got zero takes. Switched to my perch rig and got into some nice perch. Fishing was good and the structure was fantastic! If I lived closer I could really get addicted to the surf.

    Enjoy!
