Patrick,
By all means get ahold of Capt. Greg Moon. or Rocky Thickston (his partner). I first got acquainted with Moon through Uptown Anglers but every year since have booked him direct. Greg's website is "Louisiana Fly Fishing Charters" and you can get tons of information. Rocky is great too and grew up in the area so he knows it well. Sept., Oct., and Nov., would be my first choice of times to go,,,,,, which I have. The only concern about Sept. is the chance of hurricanes, but that's just like fishing.
We stayed in New Orleans proper and Greg picked us up every morning at our hotel. We would then stop for breakfast at Penny's along with all the other local guides and got acclimated real quick to good old boy mentality. Greg is all professional though and you won't be sorry you used him.
This year I was able to convince Dan Blanton to try Capt. Moon as well for his first trip there and I believe he's booked him for the first week of Oct.
Definitely search some of my previous posts about fishing redfish there for a full story and lots of pictures. If you need more help or have questions you can call or write me anytime.
Have fun, Tony
(p/s) you've got to take your wives to dinner at Deanie's in the French Quarter
