Once in a whle I soak some dries in loon hydrostop for a half hour or so. Take them out and let them dry overnight on some paper towels. It helps float em and knowing its from loon, it is most likely safe for the water.

Fly-agra works wonders. They even specify to apply it 24 hours prior to fishing. The stuff last a long time, I was amazed at how good a liquid can work. Caught multiple fish before I had to re-apply. This is all I use now.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

If you buy commercially tied flies you can also add some thin head cement to the head and maybe even under the tail to make them last longer.

Then putting them into some of that water proofing liquids would be nice.

Pinch the barbs at that time too. They come out of the fish easier and last longer with no barb.

One thing to avoid: Thompson's Water Seal. I used that on a few flies and the first time I used one of those treated dries, I saw a little rainbow-colored oil slick on the water, so not wanting to mess up our waters, I stopped using it. I've seen it recommended on other FF sites, but I would like to try and steer people away from it for that reason alone.
