5:08 PM, PDT. Finally saw a fish; just the head. Assume it was a shad. Things are late back in Virginia.

Check out the book give-away in an earlier post.

I haven't seen a single fish of any type yet! I figured I'd at least see a buffalo or a bass or lamprey by now...

BTW, Larry, what's in the library this year?

    SHig,
I've been checking the site several times a day; from early morning to after dinner, and hadn't seen anything until
yesterday. I use the 3-screen window and just caught a glimpse of a fish, then it was gone. From the profile,
I'm assuming a shad. Besides reading a lot of non-fiction, I love the crime fiction genre, especially when it
involves fishing. Punster that I am, I call it crime fishing. So, I added several novels to the list. For a more
complete description of a book, check Amazon, etc.
In no particular order, here goes:

    6. Blues John Hersey

7a. Waterside Reflections by Van Egan
    Novels are:
    8. Red Jacket Joseph Heywood (no fishing; but a great look back at a 1913 UP Michigan game warden's
experiences during a miner's strike.) I grew up in Northern Michigan and love Heywoods
"The Woods Cop Mysteries" and Steve Hamilton's novels.
    9. RiverWatcher Ronald Weber (another Northern Michigan book with fly fishing)
9a. Dead man's Fancy the latest by Keith McCafferty (he goes by Blue Devil on Spey Pages)
    Finally, a memoir,
    10. The One that Got Away Howell Raines former exec-editor of the NY Times. If your politics
lean to the conservative, stay away from this one. Your blood will boil.

    11. Force of Blood another novel by Joseph Heywood from the "Woods Cop Mystery Series"
    12. Practical Fishing Knots by Lefty Kreh & Mark Sosin an oldie from 1972
    13. L.L. Bean's "Fly Fishing for Striped Bass Handbook" by Brad Burns
    14. Fly Fishing for Saltwater's Finest by Brad Burns & the late John Cole

Should add: since the ShadCam is so shy of finny action, we'll accept a posted photo of a 2014-caught
shad by the poster, as well.
    Best to all,
    Larry S

    That, amigos, is a shad

But so far away! Any pictures, reports, or bald lies of a shad swimming around in the Verona area?

I know nobody likes blowing spots, but that area around the confluence is gonna be full of people no matter what. If there are ANY fish, I might drive way out of my way to try and get my first one for 2014 . . . .

    Shig, Mike O, and Aron,
I added several books to the list. PM me your name and address as well as 3 choices of books. We go in order of
postings. I still have just one sighting on the ShadCam this year.
Aron; was your mom an Elvis fan?
