In case anyone is interested, fished Pyramid Lake this week.

Sunday 4 hours 7 fish all shakers
    Monday 13 fish all shakers
    Tuesday 4 hours skunked
Thursday 16 fish one 9.5 pound fish.
Friday 19 fish, one 15lbs, 10lbs, two 9 pounders (all 19 fish caught after 1:30pm until dark
Saturday today, 8 fish one 14 pounder.
    Sunday 7am to 5pm skunked

Brutal on the time between take downs, make sure you have your fly in the water as long as possible meaning indicator is the best way for me to go. 2 fish on the strip in all those days and have put in at least 15 hours stripping.

Deep water beaches, popcorn, wino, sandhole is where I have been fishing.

Ernie, Thanks for the report. What size and color of chironomid/midge was the ticket? Sure you know both a 23 and 25 fish were taken this week.

Ernie, It must of picked up in the afternoon after I left on Thursday. I fished popcorn with you and left after you took off to get something to eat. I manage a couple fish with some missed grabs. It happens when you don't get that during the day.

After I left popcorn I got a cheeseburger at the lodge. I went to Sandhole and picked up 3 fish then to Wino where I picked up 8 fish in the afternoon.

Wino was the place to be for me!!!!

I was thinking it was time to get off popcorn and start fishing some of the other beaches. I like Wino a lot and haven't gone off venturing like I normally would.

Gene, the drop off was at 12 feet about 30 feet out. I hooked some fish away from the drop off but found I was hooking fish while "retrieving" my midges slowly with my fingers Right Up against the drop off I was getting a lot of fish. I figured out that this area was only 9 feet and adjusted my depth to 7.5 to 8 feet and walked the indicator down the shore line and hooked about 80% of my fish there.

If you strip you are only in this zone for seconds. With very few fish running thru you must maximize the time your fly is in the zone.

Power of observation is the key. Once I figured there route I increased my odds.

Also there was high winds on Wednesday and snow, this mixed the water temps and moved the fish in close. As the high pressure continued less and less fish each day were in close and my numbers plumited and was blanked the last day. Small adjustments under the tough conditions this time of year increase your odds but wind and weather is the key
