He has had an unbelievable year on the Lower American Rivier this winter.

Nimbus Dam downstream to the mouth = Lower American River for most.

I think he has been fishing from Watt Avenue up to Sailor Bar.

They could be in an good riffle.

River flow is at 500cfs......extremely low.

    Just called Andy......

Today he fished by himself at the 'Last Chance Riffle' which is the last riffle on the river. It is below Paradise Beach and you can fish it from either side now. It is actually the first riffle the fish see coming in from the ocean.

I think he also fished Watt Avenue.

Nothing today but that is what you have to do to catch fish.

This winter Andy has had the best Dec/Jan in the American River for Steelhead.

We talked about fishing a medium size steelhead fly and then a smaller #12/14 caddis pupa on an 18" dropper behind it.

A few days ago when he caught that last nice fish he was teaching a student how to swing wet flies for Steelhead with a Switch rod. While demonstrating how to do it, he again hooked that fish. It was on a Purple/black egg sucking bugger with a slow sink tip.
