    Ideas about using welded loops:

Don't use a knot like a clinch knot in a welded loop.

    Loop to loop is better.

Don't use small diameter tippet material straight to your welded loop because it will usually cut into the loop material.

Use a larger mono for a butt section so it won't cute into your welded loop.

Some use an Albright knot in the welded loop for heavy salt water use.

Some lines weld better than others. As a rule Airflo floating lines weld up very well.

We have a Rajeff/Airflo welded loop center. Some fly shops can put welded loops and welded splices in your line as you wait.

If you shooting line wears out near the casting end from friction of double hauling we can cut it back 5 to 10 feet and weld in another loop.

If the welded loop on the end of your floating line hinges and fractures we can cut if off and weld up another loop on it just as the factories do.

Welded loops have come a long ways......

I'll be stopping by the shop at lunch to get me a new Airflo running line. Their welded loops are awesome.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

    Bill,
I've noticed that many (most, all ?) of the Airflo lines now come with very long loops. Does the welding machine
dictate the size of the loop; or is that adjustable? I like the long loops for "heads" as they seem to be less likely
to hang up on the guides. TIA.

    Question Loop Size....

Good question. I too like a larger loop for ease of changing shooting heads in short order. In the video, it looks like the size of the loop is determined at the time of welding by pulling the amount of line wanted for the loop thru the tubing, then doubling and inserting insert the end of it into the tubing for welding. (did that make sense???) Anyway, it looks like you could choose the size you want.

Big loops make switching out heads much easier. You can pass a spool through the loop rather than pulling the length of the head through a tiny loop 2' at a time. Much easier stream side! Hope that made sense!

    Darien and Mark,
Thanks for those comments; I always hit the "post" button to quickly and have to rely
on others to complete my thoughts. The new lines are just incredible for the most part.
Love the ID info on many of them. Only downside is that I may have to go back to
    work to afford them. LOL.
    Best to you both,

We can make loops any size you want them, from tiny to very long.

As Mark noted the larger loops on floating running lines make it easier to change heads.

You can bring your line(s) in or you can ship them to us.
