    Default Eagle Lake

Just returned from our annual trip to Eagle Lake. Walked in one evening and fished three days with guide Brian Roccucci. Eagle is getting lower each year with our poor rain and snow fall seasons. We fished the south basin and had water temps much warmer than normal. Last Sunday the temp was all the way up to 50 degrees. Our first two days we had 45-46 temps with cloud cover, a little rain and light winds. The fishing, incredible! Probably a once in a lifetime event at Eagle. By the end of the second day the weather began to change and the rain changed to snow. The last morning we had a morning temperature of 12 degrees and the lake temps down by several ticks. The sky was clear and the wind changed to ENE and coming on strong. The feeding birds were now moved well off shore and the feed and schools of fish in deeper water. We still managed some decent numbers, however, not like the previous two days. As Bill was discussing last week, you have to get out on the water. You never know when everything will come together and you have that trip that will never be forgotten.

    Terry,
Thanks for the post! Sounds like a great trip. This is the best report I've heard in a while on Eagle. As you know the water level is dangerously low, it sure needs a big boost of water. Let's hope!
    Thanks again,
    Doug O.

Awesome, thanks for the report. I really need to get up there! Just curious, what type of setup were you using with the switch rod?
