Default Floatube 5 Stillwater Lakes Oct. 20-25

With all the fall colors and perfect weather for a week of fishing, my wife and I make some hotel reservations for Mammoth Lake and Reno, i wanted to fish Heenan Lake, Crowley Lake, Davis Lake, Frenchman Lake, and Pyrmaid Lake in six days.
I always want to do a fall road trip down highway 395 and check out the fall colors and the fishing. We had such a good time, that next year i want to add Eagle Lake to the fall road trip.
Heenan Lake: No fish and no grabs in the Southeast end of the lake....water temp. 50 degrees.....the Southwest end of the lake is a good place to check out.

Crowely Lake: The best place to fish is Leighton Springs for some nice fat rainbows to 20 inches....i used a 3 inch UV marabou streamer in 8-10 ft. of water.....water temp. 54 degrees.
    Leighton Springs

This little brown grabed my 3 inch marabou streamer
Crowely is so low Mcgee Bay starts at the parking lot.
Davis Lake: Skinny water fishing.....found some pods of rainbows working the shore and the weed beds on the Northend of the lake. Landed 4 trout on my UV marabou streamer....floating and inter. line.....water temp. 53 degrees.

    Number one fly wiggle tail.....wow
My fishing wife....Susan caught a 19 incher that day.
Frenchman Lake: Fished the Northend of the lake in the skinny water, and the deeper weed beds in 7 ft. of water for 7 trout 15-17 inches in 2 hours of fishing....marabou streamer....water temp. 54 degrees....no pictures, left my camer in the room.
Pyramid Lake: Stop at Crosby's to get a fishing permit and seem some very large Cutts on the big fish board for Oct; 13-19 lbs......wow.....the Cutts are very close to shore from Pelican Point to the bay North of Warrior Point....got a late start today, fished for 2 hrs.....hooked 2 fish and lost them....bummer.
This is what you want to fish.

Now that's what I call wise use of your time! Sure enjoyed the pictures. Davis is still fishing pretty good, water temps have dropped into the 40's. We've had some great fishing over at Frenchman's into December until ice up. So fortunately there's still time on the clock...

Sonny, the black lab, ran ahead to make sure there were no gophers or jackrabbits in the way. If you don't give a dog a specific job, he'll improvise one for himself and it will invariably be fun. There's a lesson there.
