Default The Airflo Rage Compact floating head is our go to line.......

.......for summer/fall Steelheading with a two handed (Spey or Switch) fly rod.

This will make your best first line for anyone new to Spey casting.

You can put a long 12-14' tapered nylon leader on it and a classic winged fly.

Or you can use a 10' Poly or Versi leader with a short 4' to 6' level tippet.

Or you can use up to 10 feet of T-8 or T-11 level super fast sinking line and a short tippet.

Unless you fish flies the size of a 'song bird' you might never need any other Spey line?

We have test lines at the shop that you can use to dial in your rod.

We have accurate data though for most popular rods.

I added emphasis to one line there Bill, and I would be inclined to agree with that statment. For me there is only one other that I am see using is the Skagit intermediate for some of my winter work (maybe 60%?). We'll see, but yeah for me the Rage is pretty sweet for most of what I use a spey rod for. Of course there is a HUGE difference between need and want
