Up A Tree

This mornin' I had a bunch of raccoons in the yard.. They ended up climbin' to the top of an Oak tree...
Reminded me of another time back in the days of my miss-spent youth when my best Bud and I had a couple of Coonhounds, a Black and Tan and a Bluetick. (I loved those two hounds even though "they" got us in to a ton of trouble on numerous occassions!) We used to prowl the creeks and canyons all night chasin' 'coons... Trouble came on the few times the dogs ended up treein' the critters in someone's back yard! My Dad was sometimes hard pressed to explain his kid's behavior!

Come on guys! Let's get a little higher!

If we wait long enough that big ugly guy with the camera will leave...


Well, this morning these coons survived to dig up people's lawns! (Lucky them!)

Great shots Mike. Raccoons are sure destructive in an urban environment; cute as heck but destructive. We had one on our deck here a month or so ago and Kaiser the Wonder Dog alerted to something on the deck. By the time I opened the screen door the raccoon had already climbed the rail and jumped into the neighboring juniper. I got a flash light and we looked at each other for awhile. We never see them during the day and so far haven't seen any evidence of them. Too much free range desert with ample food for them to tear up lawns I guess.

After a big rain in April 2006... Pretty close to the same shot as the close up above, a little bit wider though..
