    Default Remote High Desert Adventure

Want to share a wonderful experience in the remoteness of the high desert. For you that want names will not share as this is very fragile fishing especially with an extremely dry winter.

Saw wild burros, wild horse, a few mule deer and quite a few antelope. First picture are some wild burros. Second is a pretty mountain meadow. The third is one of the remote lakes and the last is one of me with a Lathontian cutthroat. At one place my neighbor and I were the only campers. In one after afternoon and morning session we landed 123 cutthroats from 7-20 inches with a typical fish of 12-13 inches with enough bigger fish to keep it interesting. All taken on chironomids.

The second lake turned out to be a disappointment between a severe early algae bloom and some very wild weather. The bloom was so bad you could not chironomid fish and then a fierce wind that drove everybody off the lake. Had a huge thunder and lightning storm with a couple hours of rain and winds so strong there turned the tents up on end. The road to the second lake was terrible. Truly a high desert adventure:

I'm jealous. I recognize the rock. I tried to rally the troops for a trip last weekend but they wimped out.
