    Default Davis Lake

Fun day on the lake with a neophyte fly fishing friend. He still got six to hand and lost many more. I think we were out fished by the indicator crowd though. The lake looks good. Click image for larger version.

Thanks for the report, I'll be up this weekend trying out my new pop up truck camper, hoping the fishing continues to improve. I'll report when I get back. Any advice on the best place to camp w/ my camper is close to the lake is appreciated. I know where the campgrounds are on the map, just never drove in them.

I'm not much of a stillwater fisherman, but that looks fun! Gorgeous day! No fish pics?

My friend Don Rotsma said that early June this year should be good.

I was also at Davis Friday. Started out at eagle point. Caught one 19 inch pig on a blood worm. Moved to Jenkins later. I had a tough time, but you are right the indicator boys were doing much better with blood worms right off the bottom.

I was up at Davis this weekend fishing from my small (10') boat with my long time fishin' bud. We had a great time, beautiful weather, beautiful scenery, and fishing was good. We landed 15 fish in a day and half of fishing, all in the ~14-18" range. Lots of other fished hooked and lots of hits. We fished mostly from the Camp 5 launch down to Jenkins. I fished floating line/indicator some, but the technique that worked best for us was using type 2 sinking lines. On Saturday, most of our fish were taken blood midge, today all were taken on Sheep Creek specials. Most fish were taken in 10-15' of water. Midges were hatching everywhere, and there were a few mayflies as well. Lots of float tubers on the lake, looked like everyone was getting into fish.
