June is the big month for wading for Shad upriver on the Sacramento, Feather, Yuba and American Rivers.

Looks like we will have low flows so May should be good for wading too.

I want to get out with my Spey and Switch rods on the Lower American River.

Last hour in the evening is always the best......

My personal feelings are that Jeff should fish with one hand tied behind his back this season. I know it sounds extreme, but there are other FF that agree with me. Sadly, he would probably still top last years #'s. Good to everyone this season.

I've got no expectations this year since it looks like we will be having a low water year. Strategies have to be adjusted accordingly!

I just hope that Jeff never finds that GPS chip I planted on him last year.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

It appears fire crackers are appropriate to scare off curious pinneped friends. In murky water I would move up in size because of clarity issuses. Depth charge! Granted, not for the faint of heart. Highly effective. OK, all fun aside, those seals can certanly ruin a good day of fishing. But on the up side , if you chose the same spot the seals did, you chose wisely. Your timing was just a little off.

    Randy,

M-80's and cherry bombs used to be a seal deterrent. With all this PC bs, I'm not sure what you can use
nowadays. And my friends consider me a liberal! LOL. Seals are marine mammals and the "marine
mammal protection act" should be enforced in the ocean. When those predators are miles from the salt,
they need to be discouraged! After all, aren't steelhead and salmon on the "endangered species list?"
End of rant! Don't forget the "shad cam" competition.

I got my water proof iPhone case I actually dropped the phone in the Big Truckee this winter while answering a phone call and good thing I had the LivePoof case makes it less stressful to answer a phone if you need to. Not that I need it all the time but once in a while you get that phone call that you need to answer and well I got just the right case............
