    Default Assassin Bug?

Had one of these guys crawling me a few weeks ago in my backyard... I put him up in this tree after I shook him off so I could get some pics and so my dogs wouldn't try to eat him. Anyways, was wondering if this is an assassin bug or something similar...

I don't think that's an assassin bug. I believe it is a leaf-footed bug. Most assassin bugs do not have the wide extensions on their hind legs.

    Question Assassin Bug....

I'm fairly sure that's a Longhorn Elderberry Beatle. It has the right shape and what looks to be at least one orange bar on it's back. They're common along the American River and my neighborhood.
