Default Full week to fish in May, where should I go??

Hey guys, I have an opportunity coming up. The wife is going to Europe to visit an old friend in early May. I've decided the take the week off too and squeeze in as much fishing, tying, beer sampling, and barbeque eating in a week I can get away with (all my vices in a week). Question for all of you, where should I go around Northern California to maximize my fishing pleasure and success? If I stick to my more traditional spots, I'd probably go float tubing on Lake Davis and take my 10' boat/6 hp outboard out on the Delta and toss top water at the largemouth. I've fished both the Upper and Lower Sac, but don't know them very well. Other things I'd really like to do, but never have, is fish the East Walker River, the Carson River, the McCloud and Fall River. I've thought about trying Lewiston Lake, and Manzanita Lake. So what do you guys think I should do, what do think will be the hot spots in early May? Appreciate your thoughts.

In May I would say pick a river a go because everything will be turned on and ready to be fished.

    "First week in May?"

I would say spring creeks and lakes for early fishing.

Hat Creek/Fall River - get a report from "The Fly Shop" in Redding first.

Top water LMB in the Delta.

Striper below Colusa on the Sacramento River - Call Johnson's Bait & Tackle in Yuba City first.

McCloud/Upper Sac/Pit Rivers - get a report from Ted Fay Fly Shop first.

    Lots of lakes.....

That is the BEST time of year for TW Bass in the Delta. Shoot me a PM if you want some ideas.

    Hey Tom,
I second the recommendations on TW bass. Maybe you can do morning-late afternoon bassin' then do some shadding till dark.
I might take a day off and join you

Just checked the Fly Shop report. Looks like the Fall is shaping up for a good early season. If you have not fished the Fall, you are missing one of the jewels in Northern Calif..The McCloud is another watershed that deserves attention as well IMHO

Thanks everyone for the ideas, much appreciated. I will definitely do some top water bass fishing, but since I have a whole week available, a rarity for me, I hope to try out a couple of different fishing options. I need to do some more research but this is a great start!
