A little history. Josh Lynn, out of the FlyFishUSA shop came up with this very innovative idea for preventing line twist. Josh gave us samples of these swivels last Sept when we participated in their annual Deschutes trip with Simon Gawesworth. Since then, Josh has gone to work for Shimano and RIO picked up the swivel design for distribution. Curious what Josh was paid for the idea. Mass production of the swivel system was probably Josh's weak link to the market place.

These new Spey swivels seam like a good idea. I want to give them a try myself.

I spent a solid 3x retail attempting to save money by building these myself, after seeing the price Rio wants. I'm looking forward to seeing the actual product and how they manage not to create a beast that hangs up in your guides (don't misunderstand -- I'm sure they succeeded where I failed).

roywest, I understand.... the prices for the swivels is a little high but if they work as well as I've heard they may be worth the money. Once I get a chance to try them out I'll write a report about them.

So when does it cease being flyfishing? Come on, what's a little tangle in your running line. Take your head off and let the running line untwist in current slightly, and reel it back in.

    : )

Smallest retail item often has the largest margin.
