Default A nice day on the American

We went out early this a.m. for some steel for the first time this year. Morning temps were freezing, as where our guides, but eventually the sun came out and started to warm us up. Hooked up to a nice adult fish that leaped 3 times, but I was only hooked up to him on the first leap. He broke me off, took both flies and my indicator. I had only been fishing 10 minuets. We fished downstream a bit to try some fresh water, but I decided to go back up to where I started. On my 3rd cast, my indicator dove under and I was hooked up to a nice hatchery fish. This was my best steelhead ever. He measured 30", but was not a pig, but I had a nice fight on my 6 Wt. Z Axis. Jamie netted the fish after a nice fight and I can now say on got a long time steelie skunk off my back. We kept the fish in the net in the water except a few quick pics. A nice day on the American.

Nice! Congrats on the skunk removal.
Yesterday must have been a good day out there. Nice weather and most people watching the game. I bet feb 3 will be a good day to head out!

Nice fish Rockman. I finally got the skunk off yesterday, landing a 28 inch chrome bright hatchery hen swinging my 2 handed 7wt. It only took four days since the opener to get one. A fish of many many many casts, but well worth it. Can't wait to feel the tug again. The fish was not caught at sailor "nightmare" or Sunrise's whore lsland, it was caught farther down stream and not taken off of the reads.

    Congrates again.

I seem to have alot of luck everytime I fish a new rod or reel. Wish I had lots of money so I could buy more new stuff. What a great way to break in a new stick. My fish was on a new 10' Z Axis 6 Wt.
    Nice fish Rubberguy and Scott.
